Cats Available for Adoption

Kitty and K-9 Connection -- A New Leash On Life

Cats now available for adoption… (If pets are marked with a single * call Cindy at 344-2063 or kittyandk-9@gci.net, for two ** call Sue at 688-4484 or igloocat@mtaonline.net.

To alleviate some of the initial questions...there is an adoption fee of $100.00 for adult cats and $150.00 for kittens, and home visits may be required. If you reside outside the local area there are some different requirements...personal referrals, a vet referral, an agreement to be responsible for transportation (both ways if necessary) and a commitment to returning the pet to Kitty and K-9 if the placement does not work or your situation changes where you cannot keep the pet. Depending on the circumstances, there may be other requirements. Our commitment is to these orphaned critters we rescue...we devote tons of love, time, energy and money to their rescue, medical bills and care...our goal is to find them the very best placement with a lifetime commitment.

BABY** - I am an approximate 2 year old female, long haired, lion cut, orange tabby. I am very friendly and love other cats. My most favorite things to do are to play, to run around and act silly, I love to eat and sleep. My owner has terminal health problems and was unable to keep and care for me. I like routine and may take a few days for me to adjust. I don't really like to be held, but I will follow you. I have my claws and need to have them clipped because I like to play.

PRISCILLA* is a DSH silver tabby approximately 8 months of age. Came in from Homer Animal Shelter. A very sweet, fun loving kitty who gets along very well with other cats, probably dogs and kids. Inquisitive.

FLUFFY** - I am a 3 year old long hair black female cat who is used to living indoors/outdoors. Unfortunately, our caretaker got some jail time, and we all had to find a new place to live. Loveable, but a little standoffish, I do like to be petted, but not held for any length of time. I came into rescue with my sibling Phoenix, and would love to go to a new home with him if possible. We’d love an indoor home, but would be ok as indoor/outdoor with proper training, or make a great pair of barn cats if that’s what you need. I'm really excellent at catching mice, keeping my temporary home in the garage mouse free.

PHOENIX** - I am a 3 year old short hair black male cat who is used to living indoors/outdoors. Unfortunately, our caretaker got some jail time, and we all had to find a new place to live. Very sweet and loveable, I like to be cuddled and have tummy rubs. One of my favorite toys is a little furry mouse, it looks so real, I think I'm catching the real thing! I also love to toss around twisted pipecleaners. I came into rescue with my sibling Fluffy, and would love to go to a new home with her if possible. We’d love an indoor home, but would be ok as indoor/outdoor with proper training, or make a great pair of barn cats if that’s what you need.

SASHA* is a DSH black female approximately 9-10 months of age. Previous owner died and ended up in Homer Animal Shelter. Very outgoing, curious and sweet. Extremely playful and will keep you entertained by her antics. Does okay with other cats, though tends to be a little bossy.

ANGEL* is a DLH white female, 2 years of age who was dumped at the front door of the Homer Animal Shelter in a box citing they were moving. She had been in the shelter for quite awhile and became a favorite of the volunteers there. Shy at first, but blossoms when she gets comfortable in new surroundings. Very sweet, gives head butts.

ANGEL IS IN TRIAL PLACEMENT

MARISA* is a black calico DSH approximately 8 months of age. Still very kitten like. Playful, sweet, gets along great with other cats. Would do well with kids. Came in from Homer Animal Shelter as a stray.

PHOTO TO COME

PHADRA* is a DSH black female approximately 9 months of age. Found nearly starved and shivering on Ft. Rich when a kind family took her in and called for rescue. This little girl has experienced a hard life in her short life.. She has scars on her feet and a scar on her iris where the vet suspects something pierced her eye. She is very friendly, loveable, purrs freely and would do well with kids. Would prefer to be an only cat as she does not like to share her space with another cat.

DEACON* is a DSH brown tabby male approximately 18 months of age. Came in to rescue with his sister. Is a sweet cat, gets along great with other cats but is shy.

OPU** - gray & white long hair female, approx 4 years old. Came from a home with older children and small dog. Groomed the dog. Sweet, likes to be held, sit in your lap. Ok with other cats, but would prefer to be an only cat.

K.C.** - white with black female kitty, mom of the adopted black & white kittens. Wandered into someones garage to have her kittens, and came into rescue shortly thereafter. Talkative, tentatively accepts being petted and will purr. Can pick her up, but not to cuddle. Would love to have a home with someone willing to let her take her time fitting in. She’d make a good barn cat/mouser.
BELLA** - DSH short hair torti with white, declawed front. A little shy, needs a while to fit in. Very loving, likes to have her ears and in front of her tail petted. Came back into rescue after almost a 2 year adoption due to a divorce.

TARA*** - Small, sweet, friendly tabby girl who was rescued by VCA Alpine Animal Hospital after she was hit by a car. She is about three years old, lost her tail and her litter of kittens in the accident. She is not a skitty-kitty altho' shy at first she becomes very out-going without much transition time and oh so friendly. This cute little lady does well with dogs and other cats, small, not real vocal, active, curious and playful. She might be the perfect companion for someone who would delight in a small, loving kitty.

O'BRIEN* is a beautiful DLH male approximately 6 years of age. DECLAWED on all four feet. Is very friendly and gets along well with other cats. Ideal home would be someone who lives in a small space or in an assisted living home. After being in trial placement and returned, it seems that O'Brien would be happier in a home with a woman, no men, no kids and no dogs.

JADA** I am a 2-1/2 yr old female medium hair dilute torti. Last year a kind lady rescued me and my kittens (who have long ago been adopted). I like to sit where I can observe everything and receive your admiration by being petted each time you walk by. I’m fairly tolerent, but have a bit of a torti attitude. I like brushing, but don’t really tolerate it when a tangle needs to be combed out...and hate to have my claws cut. I haven’t learned to give signals before I get mad, so my new owner would need to keep a close eye on me for very subtle signals and have a quick hand. I do tend to bite sometimes when I get pushed too far. Cuddling for short periods of time is nice. I can be a good lap sitter and can be really nice when I want to be. I like to play; a couple of my favorite toys are the laser pointer and the undercover mouse. I am ok with other cats, but would like to be an only cat or have only 1 other buddy. Dogs are ok too, as long as they don’t chase me; I have very sharp claws and will use them if I need to. No Children please. I know I am not the right cat for a lot of people, but isn’t there someone out there that will give me a chance to be all the cat I can be?

MISSY** I am a young senior citizen lady, about 9 or 10 years old. My beautiful long black and white hair is soft as a bunny, and easy to take care of. I was left behind at the parents’ house, mostly outdoors to fend for myself, when my owner left for college. They called KKC (cuz they knew my foster mom) when it was time to move and now here I am living in a foster home with 2 dogs and 15 other cats. I have been here for almost 2 years, and am ready for a home of my own. I don’t mind the other cats, but would prefer to be by myself or maybe with 1 other kitty. Dogs are ok especially if they don’t chase me. I’m a great lapwarmer and like to lay near you in bed. I love to be petted, but it is usually on my own terms. Sometimes I nip a bit when I’m not in the mood for attention, so my new owner would need to know how to read kitty attitude. Therefore, I wouldn’t be very good with younger children. I may be up there in years, but I still love to play. Are you ready to give hope to a poor little old lady and take me into your loving home.

KALUAHA** is a 2-3 yr old female medium hair seal point siames mix with white. Looks like the Ragdoll breed, but is smaller. She does not get along well with the other cats in her foster home. She would like a home by herself or possible one other cat. At this time, until she gets used to her situation, or it changes, she is somewhat crabby. Her new owner would need to be very tolerent of her space until she feels safe. She had come into Animal Control as a stray, so we have no idea what her life was like before.

JAYDEN* is a DMH orange white tabby male approximately 2 years of age. Initially shy at first, but once he warms up, loves to get attention, play and get his motor running. He is a very sweet boy and gets along great with his fellow roomies. Plays and purrs when is comforable in his surroundings. Loves the laser light. Would probably do better in a quieter home without small children and dogs. Would love to go into a home with another cat as would not do well as an only child.

KIKI** I am a 4-5 year old polydactyl kitty with huge white feet. They call me the Great Hunter of the laser light. I like to cuddle and be held and will sometimes sleep with you on the bed or climb in your lap for attention. Other cats are ok and I also do very well with dogs. Sometimes I curl up on the bed very close to the big dogs, and you know how pesky German Shepherds’ are. Older children are ok too, especially if they play with me. I would really love an indoor home where I can be spoiled and where I can drink out of the sink faucet.

KIKI IS IN TRIAL PLACEMENT

PRECIOUS** I am a 3 year old female tuxedo kitty with a cute black beauty spot on my nose. I’m shy to start out, but will blossom once I feel comfortable in my new surroundings. You’ll have to take my word for it that I’m social and cuddly and love belly rubs. I also like to sleep in bed at night next to you. Other cats & dogs are ok, as long as they are mellow enough not to pick on me. You won’t be sorry if you bring me home and give me a try.

AVALON* is a DSH grey tabby with a black stripe running down her back. Approximately 3 years of age, her life started out very rocky at a very early age when her mother and siblings were dumped out at Eklutna in the fall when they were about 7 weeks of age. Unfortunately only Avalon and her sister could be caught. Avalon and her sister were adopted out into a very careless home where they got outside and the owner did little to get them back inside. Once she was trapped and taken to Animal Control, came back to me where she was starved for attention. She is a very nice cat that does extremely well with other cats. Needs to go into a home with a minimum of one other cat, multiples even better.

BETTINA** I am a 2 year old black and white female kitty with a perfect Charlie Chaplin moustache. I am extremely sweet, love to be held & cuddled, and am a fairly good lapcat. Sleeping next to my foster mom in bed and asking for cuddles when we wake up is one of my favorite things. I am ok with most other cats, but it takes me a while to warm up to them. I will pick on the weaker cats. I’d be happier as an only cat, or with only 1 other cat. Dogs are great, I don’t even mind when that pesky German shepherd that is being fostered at my house picks on me. I do get a little bit of an attitude when I get annoyed so I wouldn’t be good with younger children.

SOOKA* is a beautiful dilute LH tortoiseshell, approximately 9 years of age. Returned to rescue after 3 years 8 months because they said she stalked the younger cat. Adjusted in rescue very well. Looking for her lifetime home where she is perhaps an only cat, though doesn't pick on any of the cats she's presently with. Would do best in a home with no children.

SOOKA IS SPONSORED BY BOB BATTON (12/11)

JEANNIE* is a beautiful black and smoke Persian mix approximately 2 years of age. Pulled out of Animal Control because she had been there for so long. Once she was taken to the vet for her check up, it was determined that she had a raging urinary tract infection that had caused her to have bladder stones that we removed. She is a very sweet cat, purrs freely, is a non stop talker and has adjusted great to being in foster. Has to be on a special urinary tract diet, but it's really not much more expensive then the normal diet fed to the other cats.

NUGGETT** 2 year old short hair tabby and white male kitty rescued from Nome. Very playful, his nickname is Captain Chaos around his foster home. He loves to play with the other cats (his best friend is Callie) and climb in high places. Nuggett would be best suited as an indoor/outdoor cat or for someone who has a barn and wants a good mouser, and also a cat that is loving and extremely playful. Is there someone out there that is willing to give Nuggett a chance? Also good with large dog.

NUGGETT IS SPONSORED BY CHRISTEL PETTY (3/11)

VERA* is a black & white short-haired tuxedo cat who was living on her own for awhile. Her age is estimated to be about 9 years old. She is a talker and a lovebug once she gets comfortable in her environment. Didn't take her long to come out of her shell and become comfortable in her new and safe surroundings. Underweight at first, as she scavenged for food until she trusted someone to pick her up and take her off the streets, but is healthy now. Is a great cat and gets along well with the other cats in the household. Loves to entertain you once she feels secure in her new house.

VERA IS SPONSORED BY JUDITH RICHARDS.

SUZIE** I am an approx 4-5 year old torbi girl with white feet that have extra toes. I get along ok with other cats, but prefer my own company, or that of one other cat. Dogs are tolerable. I wouldn’t be good with small humans as I sometimes have a little bit of a torti attitude. I love to climb on top of the cat tree to watch the world go by and sniff your head as you go by. I like to be petted, but have certain areas that if touched will turn me into a crabby girl. I hate to have my claws cut, you need to sneak up on me and do a few at a time. Since I have been in my new foster home with no other cats and one dog I have been doing extremely well. Once you learn my ins and outs, I can be a great companion.

EVELYN* is a DSH tabby cat approximately 9 years of age. Her previous owners moved out of the apartment and left Evelyn to fend for herself until she was found by the landlord who promptly dropped her off at Anchorage Animal Control. She tolerates the cats she lives with, but would do well in a home as an only child or perhaps one other cat. This roly poly gal needs some stability in her life, someone willing to make a place for her in their home for the rest of her life. Loves to be petted and will pat you on the arm if you stop too soon. Likes attention, but a little reserved around the other cats.

CASEY** I am a 6 year old medium hair torti/tabby mix, with lots of red. I was rescued from Animal Control over a year ago, owner surrendered due to allergies. I think it’s about time I had a home of my own. Since I do get along with other cats, it’s not so bad being in foster, but would love to have my own home with at least one other cat. Young children would not be good for me as I have a little bit of attitude in certain circumstances and small ones would not be able to read my signals to leave me alone. I like to cuddle and sit in your lap or sleep next to you. Sometimes I will sleep on your legs to keep you from leaving me. I like attention. One of my favorite past times is to chase a string or roll all over my catnip toy. I haven’t been around dogs much lately, but I am ok with them. I hate to have my claws cut, and am not into lengthy brushing sessions, so will need to be brushed often. Won’t you find it in your heart to give a middle aged lady a home; I guarantee I’ll be worth your while.

DOTTIE* is a very sweet and loveable DSH black and white female approximately 2 years of age. She is very kitten-like, is very vocal and she doesn't like to be alone. She'd do great in a family situation with older children and with other cats. Is a lovebug and quite the purr machine. Loves to be held and cuddled.

MANDY** is a sweet short hair tabby left behind at a local boarding kennel when a military couple split up and left town. She took a long time to fit in with all the other cats in her foster home. After 2 long months, she is getting very friendly and will lay on the bed with her person. She still doesn’t like her kitty room mates very much. Mandy must have been an outdoor cat before, as she will try to sneak out the door. Her new person will have to make sure she is safely kept inside. This sweet girl is getting cuddly and will give kitty kisses. She would not be good with children that are too young to be able to read the cats attitude and know her boundries.

TAMMI** -: In my short lifetime, of only 4 or 5 years, I have had multiple litters of kittens. After my last litter was of the age to be ready for new homes, someone dumped us all in the middle of a road in Peters Creek in the middle of the night. Lucky for me a bartender on her way home from work saw us in the road, and traps were put out to catch me and my babies. We all got taken into a nice warm home with lots of love and attention. I don’t much like to be held, but will follow you around and get under your feet at feeding time. I eat quite a bit, since I was an outdoor cat in my prior home, if you can call it a home. I probably lived on mice and birds for a lot of years, so never had food that tasted so yummy. I even love the soft warm beds and sleeping high in the carpeted cat trees...what comfort! I would really love an indoor only home where I can be spoiled and I even wouldn’t mind other cats or dogs (as long as they were friendly).

TAMMI is missing out on the Wasilla HayFlats, if anyone sees them call 863-4484.

CALLI** - For some reason, I found myself raising my litter of kittens under Boyers’ Photos, an abandoned shop in Anchorage. A kind lady who passed by there often saw me, and made the effort to get to know us. When we felt safe enough around her, the kittens went into the cat carrier, and of course, being the good Mom that I am, I followed them in. I got taken to a nice warm home till my babies were weaned, then went into rescue to look for a new home just for me. I am approx 1-2 years old, a short hair torti with lots of white. I am sweet, but you better know how to read my signals when I’ve had enough attention. If you ignore me when I want lovin, I will grab you as you walk by. I love to play. Having to fend for myself, I am quite a mouser and birder. I would love to live indoors only where I can kill stuffed mice or feather toys (I’m really good at this, really!) I’m ok with the other cats and dogs in my foster home. I don’t believe I like smaller children though, but older kids would be ok.

CALLI is missing out on the Wasilla HayFlats, if anyone sees them call 863-4484.

JOIE** - I am a sweet 9-1/2 year old front Declawed flame point siamese mix. Very friendly, love to have my ears rubbed. Will grab your hand so you don’t stop giving me lovin’. Good with dogs and other cats. My best buddy is Jimmi, we lived together for many years, and would like to go to a new home together if possible.

JIMMI** - I am an adorable 9 yr old front Declawed lynx point siamese mix. Sorta shy at first, if you give me time to fit in, I’ll be your little lover boy (or should I say big lover boy since I am a large cat). Good with dogs and other cats. My best buddy is Joie, we lived together for many years, and would like to go to a new home together if possible.

JOIE & JIMMI ARE IN TRIAL PLACEMENT

CALAMITY JANE** is a gray tabby female, around 8-10 months old.

OREO** - I am an almost 1 year old medium hair black and white tuxedo kitty. I love to play and am always on the go, so am very difficult to get a photo. Very cuddly, and playful, you can do just about anything to me. In my prior home there was another cat, 3 small dogs, and 3 children of various ages. Bubba was my big brother in my past home, and I would love to go to my new home with him if possible. I am such an adorable boy, how can you not fall in love with me!

OREO IS IN TRIAL PLACEMENT

BUBBA** - I am an almost 2 year old medium hair seal point Siamese mix, maybe have some ragdoll in my blood. I am a very laid back boy with lots of love to give. Cuddling and playing are what I like to do. In my prior home there was another cat, 3 small dogs, and 3 children of various ages. My life has been busy so far, as I was rescued from Animal Control as a kitten, got a new home thru Craislist, then came into rescue. Oreo was my buddy from my last home (he came as a kitten and grew up with me), and we'd love to find a new home together if possible. I sure would love to find my forever home where I can be the love of someones life.

BUBBA IS IN TRIAL PLACEMENT

CHARLIE** - I am an approx. 4 year old orange and white male tabby. I used to live in a mobile home park at an abusive home for most of my life, running away to live with a neighbor, the same one where Fluffy & Phoenix lived. I had a great life as an indoor/outdoor kitty at this home, with no more abuse. Unfortunately, our caretaker got some jail time, and we all had to find a new place to live. I doesn't hold it against humans for my past, and am a very loveable boy. I like to sit in laps, and have ear rubs. I even play sometimes. I get along well with other cats. Given my laid back attitude, I think I'd do just fine with dogs and children when the opportunity arises. Won't you please give me the loving home that I long for?
